When a team scores 18 goals in a game, records are bound to be broken. For the Cerritos College women's soccer team, freshman Carolina Jaramillo (Cetis 58 HS, Tijuana) set a new record for most goals in a game when she scored eight times in the Falcons 18-0 South Coast Conference win over ECC Compton Center on Friday. Her goal total breaks the old mark of six goals scored by Monique Cisneros in 2008.

Next up for the Falcons will be the Southern California Regional Playoffs, which get underway on Saturday, November 21. Selection of the playoff teams will take place on Tuesday.

Jaramillo, who is third in the state with 23 goals, scored six times in the first half, as Cerritos took a 9-0 lead. She added two more quick goals in the second half before getting a rest for the remainder of the game. In addition to her eight goals, Jaramillo assisted on two tallies, with her 57 points ranking her tied for fourth in the state.

Another record to fall was by freshman Natalie deLeon (St. Joseph HS), who set a new standard in most assists by a freshman. Her five helpers on Friday give her 20 on the year, which breaks the previous record of 17 set by the trio of Carolina Ornelas (2013), Corina Villegas (2007) and Rebecca Juarez (2006). Her 20 assists lead the state, while she also added a pair of goals, with her 52 points placing her seventh in the state.

Freshmen Graciela Lopez (Downey HS) and Whitney Strickland (El Modena HS) also scored twice in the win, with four other players finding the back of the net once. Also assisting on five of the goals was freshman Jamie Peters (Bishop Amat HS), while Adriana Velasquez (Long Beach Jordan HS) had three assists.
