Playing their first game of the season in Washington State, the Cerritos College women's soccer team posted a 4-0 win over Highline (WA) CC on Friday. The Falcons (1-0-0), ranked #4 in the country by the United Soccer Coaches among Division III (non-scholarship) schools, will take on Spokane (WA) College at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at Ravensdale Park.

Cerritos attacked the Thunderbirds (2-1-0) defense in the first half and jumped on the scoreboard in the 27th minute. Holding that slim lead into the second half, the Falcons put the game out of reach with three goals in the span of 10:40, with sophomore Mia Ramirez (Torrance HS) accounting for two of those second half goals. Sophomore Sydney Carr (El Modena HS/UC Irvine) recorded the first goal of the season when she got her shot past Highland goalkeeper Savanah Hutchinson, with freshman Valeria Corrilo (Dominguez HS).

Ramirez, who was a 1st Team All-American, All-Region and South Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year last season, posted her two goals in less than 10 minutes. Sophomore Serena Camacho (Los Osos HS/UC Irvine) and Carr accounted for both assists, while Corrilo scored the fourth goal 1:11 after Ramirez scored her second goal of the game.

As a team, Cerritos outshot the Thunderbirds, 27-5, with 12 of those shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Deisy Rodriguez (Katella HS) made a pair of saves in registering the save.
