For the first time since the 2011 season, the Cerritos College women's soccer team has been shut out twice in the same year. On Monday night, the team suffered a 1-0 loss at Ventura College (4-0-2). Prior to this season, the Falcons (2-2-0) had not lost two of their first four games in the 14 seasons Ruben Gonzalez has been the head coach. Cerritos will now travel to the East Coast to take on a pair of community colleges from New York. They will take on Monroe (NY) Community College (5-2-1) on Friday and then face Monroe (CC) College (5-0-0) on Saturday.

In the loss to the Pirates, the teams played to a scoreless halftime. But in the 58th minute, Ventura scored the game's only goal, as the Falcons missed out on several great opportunities.

In the 70th minute, an attack on the goal was turned away by a nice save, while 10 minutes later, Cerritos had a chance to tie the game, but were turned away when a corner kick was cleared out of danger. Two minutes later, a breakaway was thwarted, while in the waning minutes, the team's final chance sailed high over the net. Freshman Lucia Yanez (El Rancho HS) led the team with four shot attempts.
