For the second game in a row, the Cerritos College women's soccer team scored nine goals in a game. The Falcons (13-4-2, 6-1-0) posted a 9-1 South Coast Conference win over host East Los Angeles College on Tuesday for their fifth win in a row. The team will close out their regular season schedule this Friday at 3:00 p.m. against Los Angeles Harbor College. Seeding for the Southern California Regional Playoffs will take place this Sunday.

Cerritos scored five times in the first half to take a commanding lead, although it was a 1-1 game after the Huskies tied the score in the 21st minute. But in the span of seven minutes, the Falcons put three shots into the net to start their run to the big win. Goals from Valeria Corrilo (Dominguez HS), Lucia Yanez (El Rancho HS) and Alessandra Ramirez (Warren HS) came after Nia Thompson (Kennedy HS/Alabama A&M University) opened the scoring on the day. Freshman Kylie Yamamoto (La Habra HS) assisted on two of the goals, and finished with a game-high three helpers for the Falcons.

Ramirez went on to record a hat trick, with the third goal coming via a penalty kick in the 65th minute to make it a 7-1 game. Yanez produced two goals and an assist in the win, while Gabriela Jimenez (Los Angeles Jordan HS) scored twice in the second half. Also turning in a strong offensive game was Rayleen Chavez (Costa Mesa HS), who had a pair of second half assists.
