W. Soccer: Hailey Lopez scores hat trick in the Falcons win

Looking to make an impact in their South Coast Conference opener, the Cerritos College women's soccer team put seven on the board in their 7-0 win over host East Los Angeles College on Tuesday. The Falcons (2-6-0, 1-0-0) will try for their second win in a row on Friday when they travel to Compton College for a 4:00 p.m. conference match.

Freshman Hailey Lopez (California HS), who missed the first five games of the season, has scored in two of her three games in which she appeared, and posted all three of her goals in a six-goal first half for the Falcons. She gave the team a 2-0 lead in the 24th minute and then added two more goals in a three-minute span.

As a team, Cerritos produced five of their first-half goals in 14 minutes, wirth freshman Victoria Adame (North HS) accounting for a pair of first-half goals. Also picking up their first tallies of the season were freshmen Meghan Legayada (Sunny Hills HS) and Giselle Ramirez (Smidt Tech HS), who accounted for the team's lone goal in the second half. Lopez also assisted on a pair of goals for an eight-point day.

Freshman Cassandra Contreras (Hacienda Heights Wilson HS) made her first start of the season and recorded a shutout without being asked to make any saves.
