In their final South Coast Conference dual meet of the season, the Cerritos College women's swimming team split their three-way meet on Friday. The Falcons (5-3) picked up a 146-126 win over East Los Angeles College, and suffered a 153-122 defeat at the hands of Chaffey College at the Falcon Aquatic Center. The team will compete in the Pasadena Invitational next weekend.

Although the Falcons only came in first place in the diving competition, they scored enough points with their second and third place finishes to earn enough points to beat one team and stay close to the other throughout the meet.

The first event of the day resulted in a second place finish for the 200-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Anna Herrera (Rowland HS), Maria Figueroa (Schurr HS), Channon Owens (Kennedy HS) and Claudia Martinez (Roosevelt HS) turned in a time of 2:12.34. It was a third place finish in the 400-yard freestyle, which was the final event. That foursome consisted of Desiree Estrada (Gahr HS), Owens, Andrea Macapagal (Sonora HS) and Martinez recorded a time of 4:15.82.

Estrada also finished third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:16.71, and came in third place in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:57.80), which was also behind Lucila Davies (Santa Fe HS), who turned in a personal best time of 12:56.16. Jenny Parra (Schurr HS) placed third in both the 100-yard breatststroke (1:25.62) and 200-yard breaststroke (3:06.34).

Martinez was edged out for first place in the 50-yard freestyle, with her time of 27.75 just beat out on the final two strokes by Chaffey's Amber Ventura with a time of 27.60. Owens also placed second in the 200-yard butterfly with a clocking of 2:43.79.

Diver Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) accrued 133.50 points to come in first place and edged teammate Aliah Richardson (Paramount HS), who finished with 119.60 points. In the 200-yard backstroke, Herrera posted a third place time of 2:37.17, while Vanessa Hinojosa (Bell Gardens HS) placed third in the 100-yard butterfly when she finished in 1:17.39.
