In their first competition of the season, the Cerritos College women's swimming team took third place at the Palomar Relays. The Falcons, who competed in the Palomar Pentathlon the day before, will now swim in the South Coast Conference Pentathlon, which will take place at Pasadena City College on Friday.

Leading the team at the Pentathlon was sophomore Jackie Oliveros (Gahr HS), who was the first Falcon to finish in all five of the events that took place. Her best finish came in the 50-yard backstroke, with her time of 32.74 putting her in 10th place. Oliveros recorded a pair of 12th place finishes, posting a time of 30.72 in the 50-yard butterfly and 27.25 in the 50-yard freestyle. She added a 15th place time of 1:14.04 in the 100-yard IM and took 27th place in the 50-yard breaststroke with her time of 40.96. Sophomore Vanessa Perez (Sonora HS) recorded a time of 29.05 to earn 25th place in the 50-yard freestyle.

In the relays on the following day, Oliveros turned in a fourth place time of 1:11.64 in the 100-yard backstroke, with Perez taking fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly with her clocking of 1:22.86. Sophomore Lindsay deHaas (Hacienda Heights Wilson HS) turned in a fifth place showing in the 200-yard IM with her time of 2:58.58, while Oliveros (27.81) and Perez (29.41) came in eighth and 10th place, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle. Sophomore Breanna Zuniga (California HS) competed in the 1000-yard freestyle and turned in a second place time of 13:37.65.
