Cerritos College freshman swimming Kaya Glynn (Cerritos HS) earned an eighth place finish in the 200-yard butterfly at the CCCAA State Championships. Competing on Saturday at East Los Angeles College, Glynn shaved three seconds off her time in the prelims and was in the hunt to finish as high as sixth place in the championship finals.

In the prelims, Glynn recorded a time of 2:27.29, which was eighth overall and a slim .01 of a second faster than ninth place Laura Estrada of San Diego Mesa College, who was forced to compete in the consolation finals of the event. Only the top eight times in the prelims compete in the championship finals, while the next eight finishers swim in the consolation finals.

Glynn, who came in second place at the South Coast Conference Championships, continued to improve on her time in the championship finals. She touched up in 2:24.72 in the championship finals and came in eighth place, but was just edged out by two other swimmers, which could have put her in sixth place. Santa Monica College's Guilana Castro (2:24.33) and Bakersfield College's Kristyn Feola (2:24.40) hit the finishing pad just ahead of Glynn.
