The Cerritos College women's tennis team ended their five-match losing streak with a 9-0 South Coast Conference win over Long Beach City College on Tuesday. With the win, the Falcons improved to 8-11 overall and 3-5 in conference play with one SCC match remaining. Cerritos will travel to El Camino College on Thursday for a 2:00 p.m. match and then have two non-conference matches remaining before hosting the conference tournament.
Long Beach City only suited four players, so the Falcons received a pair of singles forfeit wins and a doubles forfeit win.
At the top of the singles ladder, freshman Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS) and sophomore Cyd Dionson (Western HS) each won their matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores, with only freshman Jessica Alcayde (Cabrillo HS) extended. She defeated Gaby Zarate, but had to do so in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 10-4. The Falcons won both of their doubles matches and only surrendered three combined games.
