On Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team polished off a short-handed Victor Valley College squad, 9-0 in a South Coast Conference match. The win keeps the Falcons (13-1, 7-0) in first place in the conference and will travel to Long Beach City College on Thursday for a 2:00 p.m. match.
Playing a team with only four players allowed Cerritos to sit their three top singles players, which moved people up the ladder. Competing in the #1 position for the first time all season, freshman Valentina Polonyi (Altisa, Hungary) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win, while sophomore Jovana Milosevic (High School of Business and Law, Serbia/Hillsborough, FL CC) earned a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory in her first time playing at #2 on the year. Also seeing action for the first time in their ladder position, freshmen Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) and Elizabeth Aceves (Downey HS) each posted 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Polonyi and freshman Tiffany Sanchez (Long Beach Wilson HS) teamed up for an 8-2 to improve to 7-2 together as doubles partners, while Milosevic and Pastor are now 8-1 as a duo after they earned an 8-0 win.
