In their second match of the season, the Cerritos College women's tennis team continued their torrid start, as they swept past host Santa Monica College, 9-0 on Thursday. The Falcons (2-0) will now travel to take on NCAA Division II Concordia University at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in Irvine.
Showing their dominance, Cerritos surrendered just four games on the day. The top three singles players recorded 6-0, 6-0 scores, while both of the doubles matches that were played resulted in an 8-0 decision. Sophomores Lisa Suzuki (Fujimigaoka, Japan/Seward County (KS) CC) and Petra Such (Illyes Gyula, Hungary), along with freshman Kseniia Prokopchuk (School 45, Ukraine) did not lose a game in their wins at the top half of the ladder. As for sophomores Diviana Bravo (Rosa de Jesus Cordero, Ecuador) and Mary Navalta (Norwalk HS), they earned 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2 wins, respectively.
Continuing that momentum, Suzuki and Prokopchuk were joined by Such and freshman Moa Lindstrom (Dragonskolans Elitidrottgymnasium, Sweden) in their sweep in doubles. The #6 and #3 doubles matches were forfeits due to the Corsairs not fielding enough players.
