For the ninth time this season, and fourth match in a row, the Cerritos College women's tennis team shut out their opponent. On Thursday, the Falcons (11-1, 1-0) opened South Coast Conference play with a 9-0 win over visiting Rio Hondo College. It was the ninth win in a row for Cerritos, who will get a week's rest before hosting El Camino College in another conference match.

It was a quick match for the Falcons, who won two of the three doubles matches by an 8-0 score, while the top four singles matches were 6-0, 6-0 shutout wins. Sophomores Lisa Suzuki (Fujimigaoka, Japan/Seward County (KS) CC) and Petra Such (Illyes Gyula, Hungary), along with freshmen Kseniia Prokopchuk (School 45, Ukraine) and Moa Lindstrom (Dragonskolans Elitidrottgymnasium, Sweden) did not lose a game in both singles and doubles against the Roadrunners.

In the #5 singles match, sophomore Diviana Bravo (Rosa de Jesus Cordero, Ecuador) earned a 6-1, 6-0 decision and teamed with sophomore Itzi Torres (ITESM CEM, Mexico/Kansas Wesleyan University) for an 8-1 doubles victory. The only match where more than one game was surrendered came in #6 singles, where sophomore Mary Navalta (Norwalk HS) recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
