Hosting NCAA Division III school Lake Forest (IL) College on Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team handed them their second defeat of the season, 7-2. The Falcons (15-1) extended their winning streak to 12 matches in a row with the win over the Foresters (16-2) and will now host NCAA Division III Swarthmore (PA) College at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
After winning two of the three doubles matches, Cerritos went on to sweep four of the five singles matches they won. At the top of the ladder, sophomore Lisa Suzuki (Fujimigaoka, Japan/Seward County (KS) CC) posted a 6-2, 6-0 win, while sophomore Petra Such (Illyes Gyula, Hungary) recorded the same score, but in the reverse. Freshman Kseniia Prokopchuk (School 45, Ukraine) made quick work of Leeza Bodnar in the #3 match with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout, with freshman Moa Lindstrom (Dragonskolans Elitidrottgymnasium, Sweden) posting a 6-1, 6-3 straight set victory. The #5 singles match was pushed to a third set, with sophomore Diviana Bravo (Rosa de Jesus Cordero, Ecuador) coming back against Grace Gould for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 win.
Such and Lindstrom teamed up for a smooth 8-1 doubles win in the #2 match, with Suzuki and Prokopchuk coming back for an 8-6 win in the top doubles match to remain undefeated on the season
