With the team score tied after the six singles matches, the Cerritos College women's tennis team picked up a pair of wins in doubles to post a 5-4 South Coast Conference win over visiting Rio Hondo College on Thursday. Although they were forced to forfeit one singles and one doubles matches due to having only five players, the Falcons came through in doubles play and won both matches necessary to pull out the victory. The team will look fo their second win in a row on Friday when they host Santa Monica College at noon in a non-conference match.

Of the six matches that were played, Cerritos (1-4, 1-1) picked up wins in five of them. In singles, sophomore Moa Lindström (Dragonskolan Elitidrottgymnasium, Sweden) led the team with a 6-0, 6-0 win, as did freshman Yesenia Palacios (Long Beach Wilson HS) in the #3 match. Freshman Alba Gonzalez (Colegio Madre Guadalupe, Venezuela) dropped just one game in her 6-1, 6-0 victory. After singles were completed, the Falcons knew they would have to forfeit one of the doubles matches, meaning they needed wins in both doubles matches.

Knowing they had to win both matches after forfeiting at the #3 spot, the Falcons saw Lindström and Gonzalez step up to record an 8-0 win in the #1 match, while Palacios and freshman Selene Bayardo (Long Beach Millikan HS) capped off the team win with their 8-2 victory.
