At the conclusion of the first day of the CCCAA Women's Tennis State Championships, the Cerritos College women's tennis team has one singles player and one doubles team remaining. The second day of the four-day championships gets underway early Friday morning on courts in around the Ojai area.

Seeded #8 in singles play, sophomore Moa Lindström (Dragonskolan Elitidrottgymnasium, Sweden) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kathleen Berriatua of Chabot College and will take on #12-seeded Melaie Fisher of Solano College on Friday morning in a Round of 32 match.

Joining her doubles partner, freshman Alba Gonzalez (Colegio Madre Guadalupe, Venezuela), the #5-seeded duo shut out Angela Hurtado and Krista Le of Cosumnes River College, 6-0, 6-0. It sets them up to face upset-minded Bailey Donine and Sydney Page of Saddleback College, who eliminated a seeded team in their first match of the day.

They were the only Falcons to make it through the day, as Gonzalez opened her day with a 6-0, 6-0 win in singles play in her first match. She was then eliminated by #3-seeded Aysha Hayes of Diablo Valley College, 6-4, 6-3. Freshman Yesenia Palacios (Long Beach Wilson HS) also won her first match of the day, defeating Claire Nuno of Porterville College, 6-4, 6-3. Her season came to an end with a 1-6, 0-6 loss to #3-seeded Claudia Stepien of College of the Desert.

In doubles action, Palacios and freshman Selene Bayardo (Long Beach Millikan HS) dropped a 2-6, 4-6 decision in their first match against Silena Sierra and Gavrielle Soria of Modesto Junior College.
