The Cerritos College women's tennis team may have won two of the three singles tiebreakers against Cypress College on Thursday, but they came up short in the team score, 5-4. The Falcons (1-3) will host Fullerton College in another non-conference match at 2:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

After the Chargers (1-2) took two out of three doubles matches, including both close scores, the two teams split the six singles matches.

Freshman Clara Kim (Warren HS) battled back from being down a set in the #2 spot on the ladder and posted a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win, while freshman Mikaela Ramirez (La Mirada HS) also dropped the first set in her #5 match before posting a marathon win. She suffered a 10-3 loss in the first set tie-breaker and then came back for a pair of 6-4 wins.

The match that turned out to be the winner for Cypress came in the #6 position when freshman Andrea Antonio (Garfield HS) posted a first set win (6-4), but could not come away with a second set, as Kaylene Fabros recorded 6-3, 6-3 wins to take the match.

Ramirez and freshman Stephanie Vega posted the lone doubles win with an 8-3 victory in the #2 spot on the ladder.
