W. Track & Field: Former Falcon great excels at pentathlon

During the 2017 season, former Cerritos College track and field member Juanita Webster was arguably the best female community college track and field athlete in the country. In her time with the Falcons, Webster set four school records and placed her name second in two other events while she recorded 48 points at the CCCAA State Championships by herself, which included winning four individual state championships. Webster concluded the season winning the heptathlon, 100-meter HH, triple jump and long jump, while recording the state's best mark in three of those events. Additionally, Webster, finished in second place in the javelin and competed in a combined 12 events (seven in the heptathlon).

Juanita Webster (2nd from left) competed in the pentathlon As a sophomore in 2017, Webster was ranked nationally, as her 5471 heptathlon points were the best in the country; her time of 13.65 in the 100-meter HH was the second best, as was her triple jump of 12.96 meters; her high jump of 1.75 meters was third; her 6.10 meters in the long jump was fourth; and her javelin throw of 42.72 meters was sixth. Webster also led the Falcons to their third straight Southern California Championship by winning three events, while they picked up their fifth consecutive South Coast Conference title.

Over the weekend at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY, Webster, who now competes for the Santa Barbara Track Club, took part in just her second indoor Pentathlon ever. With her 3,989 points, Webster qualified for the USATF Indoor Championships. She recorded personal bests in the 60m hurdles and shop put over the five-event competition.

  • High Jump - 1.75m / 5'8.75" (916pts, 5th)
  • Shot Put - 12.85m / 42'2" (717pts, 5th)
  • Long Jump - 5.78m / 18'11.75" (783pts, 7th)
  • 800m - 2:22.57 (789pts, 5th)
Webster-Freeman also competed in the individual high jump, where she cleared 1.78m / 5'8" and finished in 8th place.
