Competing at the Cal State Long Beach Open on a rain-filled Saturday, the Cerritos College women's track and field team still managed to win two events, while also finishing in second place in two others. The Falcons will now compete in the Occidental Distance Carnival Spring Break Classic on Saturday at Occidental College.

Securing three of the top five places in the 400 meters, sophomore Glenn Nance (Gardena HS) led the way in an extremely competitive race with a first place time of 1:01.02, with teammates Precious Alugbue (King/Drew HS) and Laurel Shepherd (Irvine HS) locking down the fourth and fifth fastest times on the day. Alugbue crossed the finish line with a time of 1:01.84, while Shepherd was right behind in fifth place at 1:02.14.

Triple jumper Justice Smith (Highland HS) cleared 11.60 meters to win the event, while her long jump of 5.47 meters was good enough to earn her a fourth place finish. Thrower Nanati Alailefaleula (Long Beach Millikan HS) recorded a sixth place distance of 12.04 meters in the shot put.

In other running events, Alia Scott (Vista HS) earned second place in the 400-meter IH in 1:01.97 out of 22 runners, with Alona Davis (Bellflower HS) placing 10th in the 100 meters (12.59) out of 39 entries. Daila Bell (Carson HS) also ran the 100-meter HH in 15.38, which put her in eighth place.
