Competing in the Jim Bush Legends Invitational at UCLA on Saturday, the Cerritos College women's track and field team saw their 4x100-meter relay record set in the first event of the day. Although they came in third place in the race behind San Diego State University and Cal State Long Beach, the Falcons posted a new record with a time of 45.71. The quartet of Kenyla Miles (Carson HS), Kierra King (Long Beach Wilson HS), Mahlaya Salter (Diamond Ranch HS) and Alona Davis (Bellflower HS) broke the old record of 45.74, which was set in 2002.

Freshman Alia Scott (Vista HS) also posted a second place time in the 400-meter IH with a clocking of 1:01.32, with King earning fourth place in the 100 meters with her time of 11.85. In the long jump, King also took fourth place in a deep field when she cleared 5.82 meters on her best jump. One of 35 runners in the 200 meters, Salter came in 10th place with her time of 25.06.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, the Falcons will host the Southern California Heptathlon Championships.
