Cerritos College sophomore track and field athlete Dalia Bell (Carson HS) earned 3624 points to finish in third place at the Cerritos Heptathlon on Friday. The two-day, seven-event competition had a pair of Falcons competing, with sophomore Keanna Daramola (Warren HS) posting a sixth place finish with 2806 points. The remainder of the team is currently competing in the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational.

Bell sat in third place after the first fours events took place on the first day. She had 2642 points and trailed second place Elizabeth Chidester of Mt. San Antonio College by just nine points. Carrisoza Maldonado of Baja California led the event from start to finish and compiled 4833 total points.

In the first event of the second day, Bell pulled ahead of Chidester, as her long jump of 5.03 meters earned her 567 points, with her competition amassing just 408 points. However, in the last two events, Bell trailed off, with Chidester passing her in the javelin and added to her lead with the best 800-meter time of the day. In the javelin, Bell tossed just 21.90 meters, which earned her 324 points, while her time of 3:10.84 only added 271 points, while Chidester received 635 points for her 800-meter time.

Daramola did well in the high jump, as she cleared 1.43 meters, good for 544 points. Sitting in fifth place until the final event, Daramola turned in a time of 3:51.60, which earned her just 28 points, while Jordan French of San Diego Mesa leapfrogged her in the final standings, as she picked up 578 points and finished 393 points ahead of her in the final point total.
