The Cerritos College duo of Jazzmine Davis (El Camino Real Charter HS) and Michelle Campos (Warren HS) combined to earn seven team points for the women's track and field team at the SoCal Heptathlon Championships. During the two-day, seven-event championships, which were held at El Camino College, Davis finished in third place overall with 4123 points, while the 3581 points by Campos put her in eighth place out of 16 entries. Davis has qualified for the CCCAA State Championships, which will be held at Mt. San Antonio College on May 20-21.

In the first event of the heptathlon, Davis made her biggest splash, as her time of 15.06 in the 100-meter HH not only earned her 834 points, it also automatically qualified her for the Southern California Regional Championships in that event. Davis, who struggled in two of the events, which prevented her from possibly winning the overall championship, made up for some of those points in other events. She posted the fastest time in the 200 meters at 25.62, which collected 831 points and capped off the seven-event championships with a fourth place time in the 800 meters with a time of 2:35.23. That put another 629 points toward her overall total.

There were four events where Davis amassed less than 500 points, which are areas in which she can improve and make a strong run for the state championship. Davis did come in fourth place in the shot put with a distance of 9.25 meters, good for 480 points, while her javelin toss of 30.12 meters was the fifth best of the group and earned her 479 points.

As for Campos, her strongest event was the final one, where she finished second overall with a time of 2:31.85, good for 670 points. She also recorded the sixth best time in the 200 meters (27.57), which earned her 665 points and added another 508 points for her long jump of 4.81 meters. Campos also did well in the high jump, as she cleared 1.44 meters and earned 555 points.
