The Cerritos College volleyball team swept past Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on Friday night for their fourth South Coast Conference win in a row. The Falcons (7-6, 4-1) posted a 25-17, 25-23, 25-13 win and will now play their next two matches on the road. They will travel to Long Beach City College for a 6:00 p.m. match next Wednesday.

After jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first game, Cerritos saw LA Trade Tech (3-4, 1-4) get as close as 11-10 until seven straight points gave them enough of an advantage to put the game away. Three straight service aces by freshman Jasmine Peralta (Lakewood HS) aided the Falcons during that run, along with a pair of kills from sophomore Sara Hickman (La Mirada HS). Hickman and sophomore Jasmine Mitchell (Warren HS) got the team close at the end of the first game, while sophomore Jasmynne Roberts (Long Beach Poly HS) polished off the game with a kill.

The second game went back and fourth, although the Falcons never lost the lead. LA Trade-Tech was able to tie the score five times, with the latest being a 23-23 tie. But a pair of kills by Roberts ended any chance of an upset and Cerritos ride that momentum into a convincing win in the third set.

Roberts led the team with 15 kills and added nine digs, while sophomore Lisa Villarroel (Long Beach Millikan HS/LBCC) added eight kills and three service aces. As a team, Cerritos had 12 services aces, with Peralta accounting for six of them, as well as her team-high 10 digs. Hickman contributed six kills and six digs, with Mitchell posting three kills and three blocks. The duo of sophomore Michelle Barba (Downey HS) and Natalie Caravantes (Baldwin Park HS) dished out 23 and 16 assists, respectively.
