Volleyball: Falcons suffer third straight loss

In each of their three South Coast Conference crossover matches, the Cerritos College volleyball team has come out on the short end of the decision. On Wednesday night, the Falcons (7-10) were swept by host Rio Hondo College, 16-25, 16-25, 24-26. The team will look to snap their losing skid when they travel to East Los Angeles College for a 6:00 p.m. match in another conference crossover meeting.

Leading the team at the net on the night was sophomore Jasmine McNeal (Long Beach Poly HS), who had nine kills in 20 attempts with no attack errors and also contributed four block assists. Cerritos was balanced in their offense, with eight different players posting at least one kill.

Sophomore Monica Vega (South Gate HS) shared the team lead with four block assists at the net and led the team with 10 digs to go with her seven kills, while sophomore Mary Keil (Long Beach Poly HS) finished with five kills and six digs.

Directing the offense was sophomore setter Lorinet Marquez (Cerritos HS/Providence, CA College), who dished out 25 assists, with freshman Grace Mendez (King City HS) finishing with four kills.
