On Saturday, the Cerritos College volleyball team was swept in a pair of matches at the Santa Barbara City Tournament. The Falcons (0-8) were swept by both West Valley College (19-25, 16-25, 19-25) and the host Vaqueros (12-25, 14-25, 18-25). They will return home on Wednesday to take on San Diego City College in a 5:00 p.m. non-conference match.

Although Cerritos played better at the net than they had in the past, they just didn't have an answer for the height of West Valley, as well as their depth. Sophomore Daisy Segura (Cerritos HS) recorded a team-high 13 kills and also accounted for nine digs, while freshman Jody Suski (Cerritos HS) added 12 kills and a team-high 13 digs. But the Falcons lack of depth on the roster forces the player to receive little or no rest throughout a match. Freshman Sabrina Rivas (California HS) has established herself as the team's setter and dished out 25 assists, with freshman libero Nataly Reynoso (Pioneer HS) posting 11 digs and two kills.

In the loss to Santa Barbara City, the Falcons were able to extend points due to their defensive abilities, but just didn't have enough of an offensive presence. Suski did lead the team with eight kills and 18 digs, with Reynoso accounting for 14 digs. As a team, Cerritos recorded only 19 kills, while hitting at just .043 percent. Segura and freshman Cecilia Burroughs (Cabrillo HS) each contributed four kills in the loss.
