With leads in the first and fourth sets against visiting East Los Angeles College, the Cerritos College volleyball team was unable to hang on to either of them and dropped a 23-25, 14-25, 25-19, 22-25 decision. The Falcons (0-10) will play another South Coast Conference crossover game next Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. when they host Rio Hondo College.

Looking to extend the match to a fifth set, Cerritos took a 20-13 lead against the Huskies (6-3). But just like their lead in the first set, the Falcons were unable to finish off their opponents and allowed 12 of the next 14 points to see their winless season continue. East LA received three kills in that late game rally from setter Aifili Tuita'u, while Giselle Arredondo accounted for the final two kills, which ended the match.

The Falcons took advantage of several East Los Angeles attack errors to take their lead, but could not finish them off. Freshman Jody Suski (Cerritos HS) was the team's main offensive threat with 12 kills, but the small numbers on the roster allowed for everyone to make contributions.

Playing their second match without freshman middle blocker Cecilia Burroughs (Cabrillo HS), freshman Bianca Smith (Washington Prep HS) stepped up to post nine kills and a pair of block assists, with freshman Nadia Arreaga (L.A.C.E.S HS) posting a solid eight kills, with six service aces, 10 digs and a .300 hitting percentage.

Freshman setter Sabrina Rivas (California HS) dished out 30 assists and added nine digs, while Suski and sophomore Daisy Segura (Cerritos HS) shared the team lead with 19 digs. Segura also added eight kills and three service aces. Cerritos did finish the night with a season-high 15 service aces, with freshman Cali Aguirre (Rosary Academy HS) accounting for four.
