A four-set loss to visiting Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday night extended the Cerritos College volleyball team's losing streak to four matches in a row. The Falcons (5-12) will travel to East Los Angeles College on Friday for a 6:00 p.m. South Coast Conference crossover match.

In the loss to the Mounties (8-12), Cerritos missed a great opportunity to take the first set before dropping it 22-25 and then fell behind 2-0 in sets after a 12-25 loss. They rebounded for a 25-23 win in the third set before succumbing, 13-25 in the fourth set.

The first set was tied nine times from 13-13 all the way to 22-22 before the Mountes scored the final three points to come away with the win. The Falcons struggled in the second set and trailed 18-12, before watching Mt. San Antonio record the final seven points.

Locked in another tight set, a pair of service aces by freshman Alexia Torres (Downey HS) put the Falcons in front, 24-21 before the Mounties posted the next two points, Cerritos closed out the match on a kill from sophomore Jody Suski (Cerritos HS), which extended the match to a fourth set. Just like in the second set, Cerritos struggled out of the gate and Mt. SAC pulled away for the win.

Suski led the team with 14 and 11 digs, with Torres accounting for 11 kills for the Falcons. Sophomore Mirka Granoble (Downey HS) handled the setting duties and recorded 31 on the night to go along with eight digs, three kills and three service aces. The duo of sophomore Nadia Arreaga (L.A.C.E.S. HS) and Sierra Hernandez-Hardy (Bishop Amat HS) both finished with four kills, with Torres also finishing with three solo blocks and a block assist.
