On Wednesday night, the Cerritos College volleyball team made quick work of host East Los Angeles College for a 25-12, 25-5, 25-21 South Coast Conference win. The Falcons (10-6, 6-4), currently sitting in fifth place in the South Coast Conference, can make a huge leap on Friday if they can come away with a win over fourth place Mt. San Antonio College for the second time this season. Cerritos swept the Mounties (12-5, 6-3) in their first meeting.

In their win over the Huskies, freshman Jayda Harris-Amete (La Mirada HS) led the way with 13 kills, while adding a team-high 10 digs and three service aces, with freshman Marissa Mendibles (Downey HS) chipping in with seven kills and nine digs in the winning cause.

The Falcons jumped out to early leads in the first two sets to take a commanding lead, and although they trailed briefly in the third set, regrouped and came away with the sweep.

Freshman setter Carissa Mendibles (Downey HS) dished out 15 assists and posted eight digs, while the duo of Ava Villaflores (La Mirada HS) and Maleah Gonzales (Schurr HS) each recorded a pair of kills, while Villaflores also had three service aces.
