On Wednesday night, the Cerritos College volleyball team received kills from 11 different players, as they recorded a 25-11, 25-6, 25-15 South Coast Conference win. Winners of four matches in a row, the Falcons (13-7, 8-7) still sit in sixth place in a very competitive conference. The team will have a chance to move into fifth place on Friday at 6:00 p.m. when they host Mt. San Antonio College in their final regular season match. A win would move the team into a tie with East Los Angeles, who Cerritos defeated in both of their match-ups this season.
As a team, the Falcons hit a very solid .431, while the trio of Jasmine Soto (Schurr HS), Lillianna Peterson (California HS) and Madison Borja (La Mirada HS) combined to register 17 kills with no errors on 23 attempts. It was Soto who led the team with eight kills, while Peterson stepped in and finished with seven on the night. The duo of Erykah Scott (Bellflower HS) and Jayda Harris-Amete (La Mirada HS) each finished with five kills.
Freshman setter Leeya Rubio (Schurr HS) distributed 26 assists to go along with her six service aces, with Isabella Carrasco (Downey HS) coming on to record six assists. Freshman libero Priscilla Castillo (Schurr HS) registered 14 digs from the back row, with nine players posting at least one dig.
