The Falcons won their third straight conference game

On Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team earned their third straight South Coast Conference victory, as they defeated visiting Chaffey College, 15-1. The Falcons (9-4, 4-0) currently sit in a tie for first place with rival Long Beach City College. Before they face them, Cerritos will compete in the Citrus Tournament this weekend, with their game against East Los Angeles College at the tournament being played as a conference game.

In the win over the Panthers (0-7, 0-4), the Falcons scored seven times in the first period and led 9-0 before Chaffey scored their lone goal of the game. The team looked to work on their passing skills and brought the shot clock down to single digits before considering shooting the ball. Even so, the Falcons converted 15 of their 27 shots on the day with 10 different players scoring at least once.

Freshman Mia Carbajal (Schurr HS) led all scorers with four goals, while also assisting on three and added three steals for a great all-around performance. Sophomore Amy Cervantes (Montebello HS/East Los Angeles College) and freshman Gabby Arenas (Montebello HS) each converted a pair of shots into goals, with Cervantes also recording a trio of assists.

The pairing of freshmen goalies April Nuno (Cerritos HS) and Haili Snook (Downey HS) combined to allow just one goal, while Nuno made the only two saves necessary in the game.
