Knowing they would be playing without the state leader in assists, Amy Cervantes (Montebello HS/East Los Angeles College), due to her academic commitments, the Cerritos College women's water polo team went into their Southern California Regional Playoff game shorthanded. The Falcons (20-10), seeded #7 for the playoffs, dropped a 14-4 decision to #2-seeded Riverside City College on Friday, which ended their season.

Doing their best to slow down the counterattacking speed of the Tigers (26-5), the Falcons surrendered goals on their first two possessions and found themselves trying to fight back the entire game. Riverside scored the first five goals of the game until freshman Mia Carbajal (Schurr HS) put the team on the board. It was all Riverside in the second period, as they scored four times and took a 9-1 advantage into halftime.

The Falcons did string together a pair of goals in the third period, as sophomore Marisela Olivas (Schurr HS) and Carbajal each scored power play goals. Carbajal finished with three goals, four steals and drew nine exclusions with her play in front of the net. Mayra Olivas (Montebello HS) produced four steals for the Falcons.
