Now in his second season as a member of the Cerritos College women’s wrestling program, Larry Rodriguez has a long connection with the college. Along with his coaching duties with the Falcons, Rodriguez is also currently the head wrestling coach at Calvary Chapel High School. From 2019-22, he served as a wrestling coach at Mayfair High School and began his coaching career in 2017 coaching at a youth and high school club program called RAW.

A high school and college wrestler himself, Rodriguez saw his son Larry III earn All-American honors for the Falcons as a freshman at 149 pounds in 2018, where he placed fourth at the CCCAA State Championships and then finished in third place at 157 pounds as a sophomore in 2019. He then transferred to Missouri Western College. Rodriguez coached two of his daughters last season with the Falcons, with Alyssa Rodriguez winning state championship at 116 pounds and Denise Figueroa serving as a red-shirt.

Rodriguez was a four-time league champion and Brethren Christian High and captured the CIF Championship at 125 pounds as a senior in 1998. He went onto place seventh at the state championships and was voted his team’s Most Valuable Player. He then competed at UC Davis for two seasons.

Rodriguez, who earned his Bachelors degree in Communications with an emphasis in Interpersonal Communications and a minor in Chicano Studies from UC Davis in 2003.

Rodriguez, 43, who has three other children – Cross (16), a member of the wrestling team at Calvary Chapel High, Phoenix (3) and Arrow (2), is married to Tania Rodriguez and they reside in Norwalk.
