At the CCCAA State Championships on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in 13th place. Competing against 26 other schools, the Falcons compiled 387 team points, while was just shy of 11th place Ventura College (373 team points) and 12th place Hartnell College (376 team points). Glendale College won the state championship with 42 team points.

As a team, Cerritos had six of their seven runners all finish within :28 seconds of each other. Leading the way was sophomore Adriana Velasco (Downey HS), whose time of 20:22.6 put her in 81st place out of 199 total runners and led a large pack of competitors. Right behind was freshman Rebecca Harris (Buena Park HS), who posted an 84th place time of 20:23.7 and held off several other runners to secure her spot.

The tandem of freshmen Sabrina Padilla (Montebello HS) and Tyler Simpson (Dominguez HS) finished less than a second part, with Padilla's time of 20:34.3 good for 92nd place overall, while Simpson was 93rd in 20:36.7. The final runner who helped compile the team scoring was sophomore Brianna Gill (La Serna HS), who recorded a time of 20:46.8 to come in 102nd place. Freshman Raquel Hernandez (Downey HS) came in 105th overall in 20:50.3, with freshman Gabrielle Mendoza (Schurr HS) checking in with a time of 21:38.3, which put her in 148th place.
