On Friday, the Cerritos College women's cross country team earned a sixth place finish at the SoCal Preview Meet, which was held at Central Park in Santa Clarita. The Falcons, who will travel to the UNLV Invitational next Saturday, compiled 192 team points and finished ahead of all conference opponents except for Mt. San Antonio College, who came in third place out of the 24 schools that competed.

Running the 5K course, Cerritos was led by sophomore Rebecca Harris (Buena Park HS), who finished in 14th place overall out of 210 entries with a time of 20:28.6. She was followed by the duo of sophomore Tyler Simpson (Dominguez HS) and freshman Alejandra De La O (Norwalk HS), who finished in 38th place and 42nd place, respectively. Simpson completed the course in a time of 21:15.5, with De La O earning a time of 21:25.7, with both runners parts of packs that finished within several seconds of each other.

The fourth runner to help the team with their sixth place team score was sophomore Raquel Hernandez (Downey HS), who finished in 58th place overall with her time of 21:58.2, with freshman Raquel Calderon rounding out the team scoring with her time of 22:42.0, good for 77th place.

Also competing for Cerritos on the day were Jessica Ayala (Cabrillo HS; 2:55.6; 83rd place), Gaby Mendoza (Schurr HS; 23:35.4; 110th place), Monica Bautista (El Rancho HS; 23:47.6; 115th place), Debora Lopez-Guzman (Gahr HS; 23:54.2; 120th place) and Jaime Monaco (Long Beach Poly HS; 24:26.2; 133rd place).
