On Saturday at the Triton Classic at UC San Diego, the Cerritos College women's cross country team placed second among non-NCAA schools. The Falcons, who also ran with NCAA Division II colleges, finished with 34 team points among non-NCAA schools and trailed a group of UC San Diego alumni, but were ahead of Southwestern College. Next Friday, they will travel to compete in the Mt. San Antonio Invitational.

Running the 6K race, Cerritos had eight entries out of the 116 overall competitors, with freshman Alejandra De La O (Norwalk HS) the first to finish for the team. She completed the course in a time of 25:02.2, which was the fourth best among non-NCAA schools and put her in 68th place overall. The Falcons had their next three runners finish within a minute of each other and were led by sophomore Rebecca Harris (Buena Park HS), whose time of 25:19.9 was fifth in the college's category and 73rd overall. She was followed by the duo of freshman Tyler Simpson (Dominguez HS), who placed 81st overall in 25:56.5, while sophomore Giselle Burgos (El Rancho HS) registered a time of 26:10.3, which earned her 87th place overall.

The fifth Cerritos runner to complete the team scoring among the non-NCAA schools was sophomore Gaby Mendoza (Schurr HS), who was part of a trio of teammates that finished in order. Her time of 27:49.6 was 10th in the Falcons category and 101st overall, with Debora Lopez-Guzman (Gahr HS) taking 102nd place in a clocking of 28:16.3, with Jaime Monaco (Long Beach Poly HS) seeing her time of 28:18.0 put her in 103 place. Also running for Cerritos was Jessica Ayala (Cabrillo HS), who ran the course in 28:39.5, which put her in 105th place.
