W. Cross Country: Fifth place finish at the conference championships for the Falcons

Running in the South Coast Conference Championships at Irvine Regional Park in Orange, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in fifth place. The Falcons, who will compete in the Southern California Championships at Mission Bay in San Diego next Friday, finished with 121 team points.

Leading the way over the 5K course was freshman Valeria Guerra (Warren HS), whose time of 23:45.5 earned her a 16th place finish out of 52 runners on the day. Finishing :15 seconds later was freshman Charlotte Barrera (El Rancho HS), who earned 21st place on the day with a time of 25:00.6 and held off two runners by less than one second.

The next two runners placed within three spots of each other, as Yvonne Villalba (Los Alamitos HS) earned a 25th place finish with her clocking of 25:33.2, with teammate Xitlali Pulido (Whittier HS) taking 27th place and crossed the finish line in 25:51.2. The final runner to round out the team scoring was Tyshay Johnson (Long Beach Jordan HS), who posted a 43rd place time of 30:06.8.

Also running for the Falcons were Glenn Nance (Gardena HS; 30:24.6; 44th place) and Adrianna Martinez (California HS; 32:49.5; 49th place).
