Led by a pair of first place finishes at the Oxy Distance Spring Break Carnival Classic, the Cerritos College men's track and field team performed well, despite a limited amount of entries. The Falcons, who will be in Las Vegas this weekend for the UNLV Invitational, picked up their wins in the long jump and hammer.

Freshman Titus Houston (Narbonne HS) posted a California Community College A-Qualifying distance of 6.97 meters to beat out the rest of the field for his first place finish in the long jump. Also competing in the event, sophomore Timothy Sloan (Central (VA) HS/Mt. San Antonio College) finished in fifth place with a leap of 6.68 meters. In the discus, sophomore Jorge Gonzalez (Ventura HS) also posted an A-Qualifying distance of 45.17 meters to win the event over the other 22 competitors.

In the 110-meter HH, sophomore Victor Williams (Dorsey HS) continued his excellent season, as he finished second out of 16 entries with an A-Qualifying time of 14.89. The only person to beat him in the race was Japanese entry Fudaba Hiroki, who registered a time of 14.75.

In the 100 meters, freshman Lesley Nwosu (Gahr HS) finished 11th out of 47 runners with a time of 11.22, which was third among community college runners, with teammate Gabriel Alvarez (Lutheran HS) posting a 13th place time of 11.29. With runners from Team China taking the top nine spots in the 400 meters, sophomore Christian Santifer (Artesia HS) placed 13th at 50.32, which was the best time among community college runners. With 100 entries in the 1500 meters, freshman Pablo Calderon (Downey HS) turned in a solid time of 4:08.69 to finish in 25th place.
