Competing in a field mixed with community college, four-year university, club and unattached entries, the Cerritos College men's track and field team did well in several events. Taking part in the two-day Cal State Los Angeles Invitational, the Falcons had 11 Top 10 finishes, with high jumper Alan Tabales recording a California Community College A Standard mark. Next Saturday, the team will compete in the Beach Opener at Cal State Long Beach.

As for Tabales, he tied for second place with a height of 1.95 meters, which he shared with two others. Winnning the event was Marcus Monroe of Mt. San Antonio College, who cleared a Southern California Prelims automatically qualifying height of 2.00 meters. Tabales attempted the height three times, but was unable to clear it.

The Falcons saw Micah Norfles win the shot put with a distance of 12.11 meters, while his hammer throw of 39.41 meters put him in third place overall. Joining him in the hammer was teammate Casanova Ah-Fook, whose distance of 37.62 earned him a fourth place finish. Al-Fook recorded a second place discus throw of 27.32 meters, with Norfles right behind him at 34.16 meters, good for third place.

A trio of Cerritos athletes did well in the 800 meters, with Colby Owens finishing in sixth place with a time of 2:03.81, while Joshua Granados wasn't far off with a seventh place time of 2:05.31. Also finishing in the top 10 for the Falcons was Joe Munoz, who posted a ninth place time of 2:06.45.

In the 1600-meter relay, the quartet of Jordan Miller, Owens, Caleb Dunomes and Gary Morrow finished in third place with a clocking of 3:30.57. Also competing in the field events was Keyaun Sterling, who tied for seventh place overall with a distance of 6.31 meters.
