At the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational on Thursday, the Cerritos College men's track and field 400-meter relay team recorded a Southern California automatic qualifying time. On the day, the Falcons had a pair of second place finishers, along with four third place finishers. The team will now take part in the South Coast Conference Prelims at El Camino College next Tuesday.

The foursome of LaVelle Sowell (Carson HS), Jaheim Williams (Compton HS), Brandon Jones (Hermitage, VA HS) and Jordan Miller (Santa Monica HS) finished in third place in the event, as they recorded a time of 41.74. That mark automatically qualifies them for the Southern California Prelims. The only quartets to beat them in the race were from four-year universities.

In the 1600-meter relay, Bryce Pearson (Bellflower HS), Williams, Caleb Dunomes (Long Beach Poly HS) and Colby Owens (Milford Mill Academy, MD HS) turned in a second place time of 3:25.46. 

The Falcons had a pair of throwers in the meet, with Micah Norfles (Marina HS) taking third place in the shot put and discus, while Casanova Ah-Fook (Warren HS) finished second in the discus.
