Separating the team scoring by divisions, the Cerritos College men's cross country team came in first place among community colleges at the UNLV Invitational on Saturday. The Falcons had seven of the top 10 community college finishers among all colleges, with the team winning the community college division with 25 team points, compared to Dixie State, who finished in second place with 34 team points. After taking next week off, Cerritos will compete in the Triton Classic, which will take place at UC San Diego.

Of the 36 college runners, Abraxaz Sanchez (Schurr HS) finished in 12th place overall with a time of 19:37, which was the second fastest time among community college runners. The next three Cerritos runners finished :21 seconds apart, and were led by Adrian Casas (Gahr HS), who came in 18th place with a time of 19:59. The duo of Miguel Lopez (Downey HS) and Alberto Cano (Norwalk HS) crossed the finish line :11 seconds apart, with Lopez (20:09) coming in 21st place and Cano (20:20) taking 23rd place.

The Falcons had five consecutive finishers a mere :15 seconds apart and consisted of Daniel Ramos (Warren HS; 20:26; 25th place), Jamal Awad (Warren HS; 20:27; 26th place), Angel Chavarria (Western HS; 20:29, 27th place), Luis Munoz (Downey HS; 20:37; 28th place) and Cristhian Macias (Gardena HS; 20:41; 29th place). Also running on the day was Ryan Bennett (California HS), who placed 33rd overall with a clocking of 20:51.
