Looking for their fifth consecutive Southern California Team Dual Meet championship, the Cerritos College men's wrestling team came up short in the championship match. The Falcons, seeded #2, opened with a come-from-behind 30-19 win over Santa Ana College and then ousted Bakersfield College, 40-12 in the semifinals. Ranked #2 in the state, Cerritos took on #1-ranked Mt. San Antonio College and fell, 30-13. The two teams will meet at Cerritos College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in their Southwest Conference match.

In the championship match, the Falcons fell behind early and weren't able to record the wins necessary to come back. Trailing 15-0 after the first three weights, Cerritos received a win from freshman Felix Osorio (Santa Fe HS) at 149 points, as he recorded a 9-6 victory. Freshman Caoilte Drury (Westminster HS) followed with a major decision at 157 pounds with his 15-2 victory, with freshman Armando Murillo (Rowland HS) drawing the team to within 15-10 in the team scoring with his 7-4 win at 165 pounds. Losses in the next three weight classifications put the Mounties over the edge and to the victory. The match concluded with freshman 285-pound Jonovan Smith (Birmingham Charter HS) earning a 7-5 win.

Cerritos received four forfeit wins against Bakersfield in the semifinals, while they won four of the six matches that took place. Sophomore Isaiah Perez (Sonora HS) got things started with a 7-2 win at 125 pounds, while Osorio recorded a 6-1 victory in his 149-pound match. In his 165-pound match, Murrilo held a 6-0 lead in the first period before he finished off the match with :04 seconds remaining with a pin. Smith added to his win total with a 12-4 victory at 285 pounds, as he only allowed escape points while recording five takedowns, as well as a two-point near fall.

In the opening match of the day, the Falcons fell behind, 13-0 after the first three weights against Santa Ana before they started to turn things around. It was Osorio who initiated the comeback with his first period pin at 149 pounds, while Drury followed with a 7-2 victory at 157 pounds. Trailing 19-9 after a pinfall loss at 165 pounds, freshman Stone Robledo (Villa Park HS) got those points back with a pin at 174 pounds in the third period, while freshman Joseph Rodriguez (Paramount HS) put the Falcons in the lead with his first period pin in 2:25 at 184 pounds. Freshman Jordan Patterson (California HS) recorded a 10-1 win at 197 pounds, while Smith closed out the match with his forfeit victory at 285 pounds.
