Aided by three forfeits, the Cerritos College wrestling team closed out their Southwest Conference season with a 34-17 win at Santa Ana College on Wednesday night. The Falcons (8-2, 3-1) will get a 10-day rest before competing in the East Los Angeles Brawl on November 20. The #2-ranked Falcons finished in second place in the conference standings.

In addition to their three forfeits, which came in the final three weight classifications, the Falcons recorded a pair of wins by pinfall. At 141 pounds, sophomore Roland Domnguez (Downey HS) recorded a quick takedown against Zayn Patel and quickly ended the match. At one point, Cerritos trailed, 17-6, but freshman Armando Murillo (Rowland HS) doubled the team's points with his win at 165 pounds. Taking on Connor Hardy, Murillo was able to end the match before the first period was over, as he recorded a pair of four-point near falls and as leading 12-1 at the time of the pin.

Following that match, sophomore Cobe Hatcher (Mayfair HS) turned in his best performance of the season, as he registered a 17-4 major decision against Ari Deniz at 174 pounds. Hatcher nearly ended the match in the first period, but was awarded four points for a near fall and took a 8-1 lead into the second period. He carried a 10-3 advantage into the third period and added to his total with a reversal and takedown, while Deniz was also penalized a point for stalling.
