Eric Sauvageau

Now in his eighth season as an assistant coach, Eric Sauvageau was a two-time All-American while a member of the Cerritos College teams from 2008 and 2010. Competing at 165 pounds, Sauvageau was the top-ranked wrestler heading into the state tournament, but had to settle for fifth place after coming in fourth place at 157 pounds during his freshman season.

Sauvageau won the Southern California championship his sophomore season and finished the year with a 16-5 overall record, which included going 13-5 at 165. He battled back from a mid-season injury, which included him placing second at the West Hills Tournament.

In his freshman year, Sauvageau went 28-8 on the year, which included going 25-7 at 157 pounds. He reached the semifinals of the state championships, but dropped that match and settled for fourth place. He also won the championship of the Cuesta Tournament, while placing third in three other tournaments.

Sauvageau jumped right into coaching and spent 2010-18 as an assistant wrestling coach at his alma mater, Loara High School and also served as an assistant coach on the freshman football team from 2016-20. In addition to his coaching duties with the Falcons, Sauvageau is also an assistant wrestling coach at Villa Park High since 2019 and had helped lead them to back-to-back CIF Championships.

Sauvageau, 33, earned his Associate’s degree from Cerritos College in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Fitness and a minor in Physical Education. He is single and resides in Anaheim.
