Leading in the team points after the Southern California Prelims, the Cerritos College women's track and field team settled for fifth place with their 61 team points. Competing at Moorpark College, the Falcons won two events, including the hammer, which took place in the prelims. On Saturday, freshman Jazzmine Davis continued her spectacular season, as the won the 100-meter HH in a time of 14.37. That clocking tied her for the fifth fastest time in school history with Erin Straughter, who posted her time in 2009.
In addition to her 10-point performance in the shorter hurdle race, Davis followed that with a sixth place finish in the 400-meter IH in a time of 1:06.72. In all, Davis provided the Falcons with 23 of their points, as she also ran the first leg of the 1600-meter relay that finished in sixth place.
Those who qualified will compete in the CCCA State Championships, which will take place next Friday and Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College.
