On Saturday, the Cerritos College women's track and field team competed in their first meet of the season at the Orange Coast Open. The Falcons, who host the South Coast Conference Opener next Saturday, entered most of their athletes in throwing events, although they also did well in several running events.

Freshmen Milika Burdett (Cypress HS) and Dimitra Vitogiannis (Downey HS) finished third and fourth, respectively in the hammer, with Burdett tossing 37.78 meters, with the best throw from Vitogiannis going 35.73 meters. In the shot put, freshman Jessica McLennan (Warren HS) placed fourth with a distance of 10.09 meters, while her discus throw of 28.43 put her in fifth place. Vitogainnis led the Falcons in the discus with a second place toss of 33.11 meters.

In the 60-meter dash, the duo of Rionna Wallace (Lakewood HS) and Aryianna Faircloth (Magnolia HS) finished together, with Wallace earning a second place time of 7.68, with Faircloth finishing in 7.87, good for third place. The 3200-meter relay quartet of Leslie Juarez (Warren HS), Samantha Martinez (Fountain Valley HS), Lauren Berg (Fountain Valley HS) and Delilah Chavez (Lakewood HS) posted a second place time of 10:44.99, while jumper Jourdan Murphy took second place in the long jump at 4.96 meters. She matched that placing in the triple jump with her distance of 10.86 meters.
