Facing cross-town rival Long Beach City College, the Cerritos College volleyball team was able to extend the match to four games, but dropped a 17-25, 15-25, 25-22, 18-25 decision on Friday. The loss slipped the Falcons record to 4-12 overall and 3-6 in SCC play. They will host Los Angeles Trade-Tech College at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Playing without freshman outside hitter Susan Suski (Cerritos HS) for the second match in a row, Cerritos looked to other players to help pick up the slack offensively. Sophomore Latia Peters (Hesperia HS) was up to the task and recorded 10 kills and three blocks, but had 12 attack errors, while freshman Stephanie Ortiz (Huntington Park College Ready Academy HS) came on to register six kills in 17 attacks with only one error.

The Falcons struggled in the first two matches and had trouble scoring past the Vikings front line. The pairing of Jasmine Caldwell and Danielle Tuitasi combined for 23 kills, while another pair had seven kills each.

Freshman setter Aniga Aiono (Lakewood HS) was able to record two kills and led the offense with 27 assists with freshman Chelsea James (La Mirada HS) finishing with four kills. The back row was led by sophomore Gloria Chang (Bellflower HS) with 11 digs with Ortiz adding 10 digs. Cerritos again struggled to handle an opposing team's serve, as the Vikings posted 14 service aces.
