Volleyball: Falcons sweep past ELAC for fifth straight win

The Cerritos College volleyball team earned their fifth win in a row with a 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 South Coast Conference victory at East Los Angeles College on Wednesday. The Falcons (5-5, 2-0), who are tied for first place with El Camino College, host the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

The duo of freshmen Jasmynne Roberts (Long Beach Poly HS) and Amanda Payne (Orange Lutheran HS) led the way for Cerritos, as they recorded 20 kills between them, while Roberts also added 10 digs, three service aces and a pair of blocks at the net. Adding to the win was freshman Valerie Montoya (La Mirada HS), who accounted for seven kills.

Defensively, sophomore libero Ashley Castro (Santa Fe HS) posted 22 digs and also added three service aces, while freshman setter Michelle Barba (Downey HS) dished out 16 assists, which complimented her eight digs and team-high five service aces.
