After their 17-25, 14-25, 26-28 South Coast Conference loss to host Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday night, the Cerritos College volleyball team slipped into fifth place in the standings. The Falcons (8-12, 5-7) have two matches left in their season and will host Pasadena City College, who is in a tie for first place.

In the loss to the Mounties (15-6, 9-3), freshman Jasmynne Roberts (Long Beach Poly HS) provided the team with the majority of their attack at the net, as she led the team with 15 kills and four errors in 43 attempts. When it wasn't Roberts, who also added a team-high 12 digs, freshman Amanda Payne (Orange Lutheran HS) was the next offensive target with her 10 kills in 31 attempts.

Cerritos fell behind early in the first two sets and was never able to work their way back into the match, while they looked to extend the match in the third set, but could not get past Mt. SAC. Eight service errors and 18 attack errors hurt the team in their upset bid.

Freshmen setters Michelle Barba (Downey HS) and Crissy Silavong (Katella HS) dished out 14 and 12 assists, respectively, while sophomore libero Ashley Castro (Santa Fe HS) posted eight digs. Barba and Payne each contributed five digs in the loss.
