On the first day of the Cerritos Tournament, the Falcon volleyball team earned three wins. The team recorded wins over Glendale College (25-11, 25-20, 25-17), Cuesta College (25-20, 26-24, 25-18) and santa Monica College (27-25, 13-25, 25-18, 25-22). For the championship bracket on Saturday, Cerritos (4-0) will face Yuba College at 9:00 a.m, while a win will put them in a 1:00 p.m. semifinal against either Orange Coast College or Santa Monica.

Cerritos def. Glendale: Balance was the key to all three wins and the day started with sophomore Nicole Spigner (La Mirada HS) posting a team-high eight kills, while adding 10 digs. The Falcons opened up with a quick win, which built up their confidence as the day progressed. Sophomore libero Jasmine Peralta (Lakewood HS) had 20 digs to anchor the back row, with sophomore setter Natalie Caravantes (Baldwin Park HS) running the offense with 28 assists. Sophomore Valerie Montoya (La Mirada HS) and freshman Kayley Stephens (Cypress HS) each added six kills.

Cerritos def. Cuesta: In their next match, the team was able to hold off a Cougars rally in the first set and then came back in the second set. Each team was serving for the set, but it was the Falcons who were able to come away with the win. Led by Peralta's five service aces and 19 digs, Cerritos also received eight kills and eight digs from Spigner. Caravantes dished out 24 assists, with Stephens putting away seven kills, with Peralta also posting five kills. Freshman Rocio Rojo-Perez (Bellflower HS) came on and added three service aces in the win.

Cerritos def. Santa Monica: The team seemed to hit a rut in the second set and had six attacking errors, but played strong in the three sets they won. The Falcons escaped the first set when the Corsairs were charged with a net error and setting error, which broke a 25-25 tie and secured the win. Spigner led the way with 12 kills, while Peralta recorded the first three points of the game with services aces, as she finished with nine in the match. Stephens posted eight kills and Caravantes had 30 assists for Cerritos. Freshman Jasmine McNeal (Long Beach Poly HS) added two solo blocks and a blocking assist.
