The Cerritos College volleyball team continued their busy week with a pair of matches at Fullerton College on Friday. The Falcons were beaten by both the host Hornets (15-25, 20-25, 13-25) and then suffered a loss to Gavilan College (25-15, 13-25, 22-25, 15-25). They will now travel south to compete in the San Diego City Tournament on Saturday.

Cerritos vs. Fullerton: In the loss to Fullerton, the Falcons received nine kills from sophomore Nicole Spigner (La Mirada HS) and six kills from freshman Monica Vega (South Gate HS). But the team had no answer for the height and depth of the Hornets, as Grace Lopez had 10 kills, four service aces and six digs, with Shawnee Longmeyer checking in the nine kills and five blocks. Sophomore setter Natalie Caravantes (Baldwin Park HS) dished out 16 assists in the match.

Cerritos vs. Gavilan: Spigner posted four of her match-high 11 kills in the first set, as the Falcons posted a 25-15 win. They struggled at the net in the second set, and then saw a chance to pull out a win in the third set slip away, as they fell, 22-25. Vega finished with nine kills, seven digs and three service aces, with freshman Kayley Stephens (Cypress HS) adding five kills and three blocks. As for sophomore Valerie Montoya (La Mirada HS), she added five kills, with Spigner and sophomore Jasmine Peralta (Lakewood HS) each registering 10 digs.
