In their South Coast Conference match against host Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College volleyball team was in the hunt in each game. However, they just weren't able to get that key kill when necessary and dropped a 21-25, 21-25, 22-25 match to the Mounties. On Friday, the Falcons (8-7, 1-1) will host a 6:00 p.m. match against Los Angeles Harbor College.

Looking to the duo of sophomore Nicole Spigner (La Mirada HS) and freshman Monica Vega (South Gate HS), Cerritos received double-digit kills and efficiency at the net. Spigner (13 kills, two attack errors) and Vega (11 kills, two attack errors) also combined for nine digs on the night. Also playing well at the net was freshman Kayley Stephens (Cypress HS), who recorded seven kills and three block assists, while Spigner also shared in three blocks.

Sophomore setter Natalie Caravantes (Baldwin Park HS) dished out 25 assists and finished with seven digs in the loss, while she also contributed three kills at the net. As for sophomore libero Jasmine Peralta (Lakewood HS), her nine digs led the team, with freshman Christina Kennedy (Cabrillo HS) coming off the bench to contribute five digs.
